Adventures in the Hammock

My soon-to-be sister-in-law graduated from GCBI (Great Commission Bible Institute) this past weekend and all 13 of us (Ben, his 8 other brothers, his parents, his grandmother, and myself) went down in a 15 passenger van all the way from Pennsylvania to Florida to see it!  We decided to go visit the Highlands Hammock State Park and try and see some gators!  There were some crazy and fun times with my future family and it was a joy to capture it.

Jared on the boardwalk.

Rusty (my future father-in-law) and Matthew checking out the swamps.

Ben admiring the view between the trees.

My handsome fiance :)

The water here had this really cool reddish, brownish, goldish tint to it!

This is actually the reflection in the water.

Mimi (Rusty's mom) walking on the raised boardwalk.

They found an alligator in the water and wanted to show us!

A very terrible photo of the gator we saw.

Kristen got bit by a fly and accidentally kicked her flip-flop into the water.

Rusty got a branch, coaxed it over, and grabbed it.

Adam caught a turtle.

The lovely Katrina (a fellow GCBI student) accompanied us into the Hammock.

Ben looking fly.

Rusty climbing a palm tree.  The Russells were missionaries in the Philippines for a year and a half and he learned how to do it while they were there.

The Russell family (and Katrina, who was pretty much a Russell by this time)

Another family picture with Mimi and I.

Jon caught a lizard.

It was such a beautiful day!

Josh swinging on the swings at the park.

Carrie pushing Matthew on the swings.

Levi tried to cross the monkey bars by grabbing it with both arms.

Matthew was having a lot of fun on the swings!

Mark enjoying the slide.

Luke was posing for me on the slide.

Levi, Ben, Jon, and I played pinecone ball.  Ben hit some good ones, Levi pitched really well, and Jon was a fast runner.

It was really hot and the bugs were crazy, but our trip to the Highlands Hammock State Park was really fun and a great time spent with family!  If you're ever in Sebring, go visit!  You might see a gator.  Or another tourist's flip flop ;)
